Hear ye, hear ye! As it is both Scorpio AND eclipse season when I write this post. ♏️🌚
If you’re new to astrology, Scorpios are the zodiac sign associated with rebirth and transformation. And not just any transformation. It’s the type that involves diving deep into the dark side of our soul we choose to ignore or toss aside.
Which, coincidentally (but not really, ’cause we do not believe in coincidences in this house), is what shadow work is all about.
BetterUp defines it as, “Working with your unconscious mind to uncover the parts of yourself that you repress and hide from yourself. This can include trauma or parts of your personality that you subconsciously consider undesirable.”

Combine Scorpio energy with eclipse energy, and you’ve got yourself an unpredictable and wildly transformational time. So, if you’ve been feeling it–easily drained, moody/cranky, obsessive–know that you’re not the only one. I’ve been feeling it too.
Not gonna lie. Shadow work can be annoying as hell, especially when it’s your first rodeo. So many freaking inner demons popping left and right, traumas and triggers wanting to make itself known in the worst way possible. As you desperately call for a timeout.
Like, HELLO????? I am literally ONE HUMAN BEING. Y’all really think you can talk me into this fucked up orgy????
Not today, Satan!!!!

As you can probably tell, it’s easy to get so caught up in the whirlwind of it all. My advice? Let it.
But not quite in the way you’re probably thinking.
Because, folks, there is a stark difference between processing and completely drowning.
Yes, swimming into the depths of the darkness may be an integral part of your process. However, you gotta let yourself breathe, hun. Sinking is not an option. We’re not trying to die here (not literally at least).
Don’t worry, our time will come. Just not now.
Dark humor aside, shadow work is what it is: work. You definitely have to be intentional about it as well as willing. It’s an important aspect of both spirituality and personal growth. Holistic healing, if you will.
More often than not, our issues stem from childhood. Anything that we were shamed for like being “too loud”, “too opinionated”, “too silly”, so on and so forth.

Then, there’s the other side of the coin where you’re constantly being pushed to be who you are clearly not. And the older you got, the more these pressures and imperfections stuck out like a sore thumb.
The sad part about this is that if we don’t address them and we’re not self-aware, we are likely to feed into the toxicity no matter how small or big.
Suppression and oppression of our shadow is never the answer. It’s about learning how to embrace your darkness with compassion.
That’s just the top of the iceberg of what concepts, ideas, and/or beliefs we must tackle and then unlearn. No wonder it’s a challenge that we tend to get intimidated by, right?
But what’s comforting about shadow work is knowing that we are here because of that duality.
Light cannot exist without shadow. Happiness cannot exist without sadness. Success cannot exist without failure. Vice versa.
It’s a continuous journey. Might as well be mindful about it.

Besides, you’re not the only one going through this process (whether consciously or unconsciously). Trust and believe.
Someone as famous and seemingly untouchable as Beyoncé has some shadows to overcome too! No one’s an exception.
So, embrace the shadow. Recognize that it is a vital part of you. Chances are they just need a little love and compassion. Underneath the crass words and brute force is a deeply hurt, unhealed side of you.
Question is: are you ready to face them?
The choice is yours to make. 🤗✨🧿
